Love this! Here’s an awesome, chill song for your summer playlist. My friend Nick tipped me off about these guys, and I’m loving their alternative feel. It’s smooth, chill, collegey hip-hop, mixed with a hint of reggae and pop music. Almost G-Love-ish.  The lyrics to this song are ridic.

“She likes really fat blunts and Natural Lights,

She loves festivals, she wants my testicles”

Words to live by. Awesome song though. A Cool Stick has opened for Drake, Sam Adams, Big Sean, and Citizen Cope, and also recently received recognition as “Baltimore’s Best Hip-Hop Act” by the Baltimore City Paper. Keep an eye out for them!

P.S… Nick.

Ready for the next biggest movement in pop music? I PROMISE you will like this song and your emotions will run wild.

If you haven’t heard of Alex Young.. you’re behind! Not only is she the next hottest pop diva on the scene, but she’s a diva with a message. Her latest single, “Government Name”, did extremely well, garnering the #4 position on MTV Logo’s Pop charts and sustaining this position for over 6 weeks (it’s still there!). Now, Alex is back with a new single called “Something’s Coming”.

The first time I heard this song, I instantly got chills down my spine, and couldn’t get it out of my mind for weeks. With the deep crisis the world is in, there is a huge need for hope and a greater need for change. “Something’s Coming” is a message of both. We NEED to make a change in this world before something really tragic happens, like the tsunami in Japan or the earthquake in Haiti, to name a few. You MUST listen to this beautiful song – the instrumental is incredible, the lyrics are moving (to say the absolute LEAST), and AY’s vocals are beyond amazing. Truly touching.

Stay tuned for this soon-to-be-viral music video dropping very soon! I will post the download link with the video.

Save Your Soul” (Right click + “Save link as” to DL)

Introducing: Super Rocket Car! Super Rocket Car is an awesome New Jersey band, the singer being a friend of a friend of mine. They’re very talented musically and lyrically. This is the kind of music that anyone can listen to and thoroughly enjoy. It’s poppy and rocky, but just the right amount of each, making a perfect, uplifting combo. It’s almost a pop-punk revival meets Jason Mraz/John Mayer. I’m not really sure if that makes sense. Do you like Blues Traveler? Cause I also get that vibe from these guys. You should probably just listen and enjoy…

Woah! I’m smitten! This is amazing. Cris Cab is a super cool the cool, chill artist, and he’s young too. He has done amazing covers that have garnered much attention on YouTube, including “Black and Yellow” (which is incredible), but he just released an original song/music video that is fantastic. It makes me want summer so much more than I already did… thanks, Cris. If you want to feel this cool summer bliss, stare at pretty people, and listen to great music, you better watch this music video.

Also, I might be going to his show this weekend, so stay tuned for more Cris Cab updates.

“Rolling In The Deep (Cover)” – John Legend

Wow! I, like most humans, are thoroughly smitten with Adele’s hit single “Rolling In The Deep” off her new album 21. Picture that song in your mind. Light acoustic guitar, awesome lyrics, and Adele’s skilled (understatement) vocals. Now, picture John Legend’s smooooth vocals over that. Ahhhh, feels good, right? Now, listen and enjoy this showcase of talent with John Legend’s “Rolling In The Deep” cover. It has a strong focus on vocals. Which it should.

Introducing: Ryan Shubert! If you’re looking for some collegey-Slightly-Stoopidish music with a twist of pop music, you’ve met your match. Ryan sent me his debut EP in one of the nicest email submissions I’ve received to date. He sounds like a genuinely nice, passionate guy. The kind of guy you want to take home to your mother.

Is anyone else preparing their summer playlists early? I am. Call it Spring Fever, call it being delusional, whatever – SUMMER’S COMING! Ryan Shubert’s beachy, light, smooth songs are a perfect addition to Summer ’11 playlists. Ryan is a fellow Temple University native with Michael Cameron. If you like Slightly Stoopid’s style (the music, not the weed), or John Mayer, you’ll love this guy. In his words, “The subject matter of my music is all true to my life experiences while living at college”. Check out Ryan’s Facebook page by clicking here. Make sure you pick up his 3-song EP, Halfway Past Tomorrow

Stream Halfway Past Tomorrow here.

Buy Halfway Past Tomorrow on iTunes HERE.

“As a daily reader and enthusiast of your blog, I would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to consider featuring my music.” – Ryan Shubert.

Aw stawwwp Ryan…

P.S. Happy FRIDAY! Try not to dance around your room to Rebecca Black too much!

Love this! I absolutely fell in love with Amanda Seyfried’s voice in Mamma Mia, which is the best movie. Ever. She’s got such a cute, sweet tone to her voice and I’m so excited to see her sing again. Though technically unrelated to the release of her new movie, Little Red Riding Hood, Amanda just released this little video/song and it’s available for download on iTunes. Lub it!
