Well, it’s pretty clear I’m on an alternative streak.. so here’s one more for the batch.

This is a track by a new artist named Kenna. I’m not even sure how to describe this song, it’s just sooo cool. The video is super cool, entertaining, and different too. Kenna is like…Pop, RnB, alternative, electronic, soothing, almost ambient sounding. I’m not sure if that even makes sense. Definitely subjective. If I do know one thing for sure, it’s that you should watch this cool ass video. That is all.

Love this! Here’s an awesome, chill song for your summer playlist. My friend Nick tipped me off about these guys, and I’m loving their alternative feel. It’s smooth, chill, collegey hip-hop, mixed with a hint of reggae and pop music. Almost G-Love-ish.  The lyrics to this song are ridic.

“She likes really fat blunts and Natural Lights,

She loves festivals, she wants my testicles”

Words to live by. Awesome song though. A Cool Stick has opened for Drake, Sam Adams, Big Sean, and Citizen Cope, and also recently received recognition as “Baltimore’s Best Hip-Hop Act” by the Baltimore City Paper. Keep an eye out for them!

P.S… Nick.

OH MY GOD! Beastie Boys are back!?!? They’re possibly one of my favorite groups EVER. As a fellow white Jew who supports alternative hip-hop, I feel a deep connection with these badasses. They’re so innovative and I can never get enough of them. And now they’re releasing a new album?! YES YES YES! I also heard No Doubt is in the process of making a new album.. Hell yes! All the best bands are coming back to life! Me happy.

Here’s the first single from the alternative bros known as Black Lips. It’s a different feel for Jillboard, but that’s why I like it – it’s different and cool. Almost reminds me of The Fratellis, if you remember them. Really nice alternative rock song. Check ittt.

Give You Love (Featuring Skizzy Mars)” (Right click + “Save link as” to DL)

This is sick! Awesome beat by Fritz and sick verses by Skizzy Mars. This is my first time hearing of them, but they’re two high school students from NYC – noice.  This whole track is original and is def worth your time.

Rolling In The Deep (Kenton Dunson Remix)” – John Legend (Right click + “Save link as” to DL)

WOW. This guy is cuhrazy talented. I can not get over how amazing these two songs are. The first is an original by Kenton called “Momentum”. It’s an R&B/hip-hop fusion song with strings, guitar, samplings, and awesome electro beats toward the end. I really can not deal with how good this is. Absolutely smitten.

The second song is a remix of John Legend’s cover of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep”. Mildly confusing, but nonetheless incredible. He adds his hip-hop twist to the song and makes it sooo cool (even though it was already pretty epic).

I need more Kenton! Gimme gimme.

Wow! I’m shocked by how awesome this is. It’s kind of reminiscent of Passion Pit. But not as electro. And a little more hippity hoppity. The algorithm for this song would be something like:

Passion pit – 1/4 electro + 1.5 hip-hop = “Life Or Something Like It”

That may not be 100% accurate. I’ve never been much of a mathematician.
