“Home Alone” – Virgo

“The Sugar Dub Fairy” – DJ BAHLER

Though a “pure-blood” of the Jewish community (lolz…I’ve been watching Harry Potter…), I’ve never been completely infatuated with Christmas music. Mariah’s “All I Want For Christmas” and The Waitresses’ “Christmas Wrapping” have always been up there, but my Navidad has never been so Feliz. Until now..

This year I’ve found something I can really dig my non-Christian teeth into… Christmas Dubstep!!! I previously posted a Kinetics & One Love dubstep cover of “Winter Wonderland”. I found a couple more INCREDIBLE Christmas dubstep songs while grazing amongst the fellow bloggers.  The first is by Virgo and is titled “Home Alone”.  Amazinggggg instrumental. Wow. The second is a mash by DJ BAHLER and is called “The Sugar Dub Fairy”. Nice play on words. I tried to do that with the title of this post (…fail). It’s an unbelievably awesome mashup of a Tchaikovsky classic with a dubstep beat, M.I.A’s “Steppin’ Up”, Sleigh Bells, Bassnectar, and Bogtrotter.  I’ve had these two songs on repeat for a good 25 minutes.. Which means I’ll probably be sick of them in 5 minutes. Just know it’s INSANE while it lasts!

Ear noms would be a massive understatement.  Happy Lolidays!

“Just A Dream” (Click to DL)

“Firework Vs. Grenade Mashup” (Click to DL)

You’ve probably heard of fast-growing YouTube sensation, Sam Tsui.  I’ve heard his stuff before but never liked his covers. Finally I found something I can appreciate. He has an incredible voice and is clearly a talented musician. The only complaint I have is…relax on the dramatics! Your voice and style will carry you, no need for the extreme dramatization and cheesy facial expressions. Don’t get me wrong, you totally need to express yourself, but I just feel like this one is a bit forced. Just let it fuhlowwwwwwww duudeee. Anyway here’s two great Sam Tsui covers over current Top 40 hits. “Just A Dream” blows my mind. It features Christina Grimmie, who also has stunning vocals. Bam! Can’t wait to see some originals from Sam.

P.S. If I hear one more “Dynamite” cover….. lord.

“What’s My Name (Remix)” – Kinetics & One Love

“What’s My Name (Remix)” (Click to DL)

“What’s My Name” by Rihanna & Drake is currently one of my favorite Top 40 songs out there. Between Rihanna’s vocals, Drake’s disgustingly creative lyrics, and a great instrumental, it’s just a prime song. Kinetics & One Love added some rapping and singing over the track. I’m obviously a K&1L fan, and usually I think they improve the songs that they remix. However, I’m not sure that’s the case with this one. I think I just like the original too much to say that this time. It’s still good though.

“Hide Ya Kids, Hide Ya Dubstep” – 5 & A Dime

“Hide Ya Kids, Hide Ya Dubstep” (Click to DL)

Incredible! 5 & A Dime, extraordinary dubstep mashup artist, has created yet another masterpiece. It uses two of my favorite things in the world today – Bassnectar’s “Where Is My Mind” dubstep mix, and a sampling of Antoine Dodson.  I want to vom of excitement from this track. They should call it Lovestep. Lubstep. I lubstep dubstep. …Awkward beat.

Anyway, I’m keeping this one on repeat for awhile. There are also segments of Huey’s “Pop, Lock & Drop It”, Unk’s “Walk It Out”, Soulja Boy’s “Donk”, and that song that says “Stuntin’ Is A Habit” (for some reason I can’t remember who it’s by…). Sooo good!

“Mash It Up” – Norwegian Recycling

“Mash It Up” (Click to DL)

Here’s a slightly annoying but well done mashup of every song you know from this past year and pop music’s past. I’m surprised to see Norwegian Recycling do a mashup like this. I’ve listened to them for a little over a year now, and the reason they became popular is for doing a different kind of mashup – instead of the classic hip-hop over club beat mashup, they mashed smooth, acoustic songs, like Jason Mraz and other similar artists, resulting in a smooth, relaxing mashup. However, this newest song by Norwegian Recycling is a compilation of all clubby pop songs over Cee Lo Green’s “Fuck You” track. It’s good, just different for these guys. Here’s the full list of songs in “Mash It Up”:

1. “Fuck You” – Cee Lo Green
2. “Do You Remember” – Jay Sean feat. Sean Paul
3. “2012” – Jay Sean feat. Nicki Minaj
4. “Get Outta My Face” – Kylie Minogue
5. “Piece of Me” – Britney Spears
6. “Teenage Dream” – Katy Perry
7. “Bad Romance” – Lady Gaga
8. “Sexy Bitch” – David Guetta feat. Akon
9. “Beautiful Girls” – Sean Kingston
10. “Commander” – Kelly Rowland feat. David Guetta
11. “The Sweet Escape” – Gwen Stefani feat. Akon
12. “Club Can’t Handle Me” – Flo Rida feat. David Guetta

“Stereo Hands” – The White Panda

“Stereo Hands” (Click to DL)

Here’s another White Panda mashup that is some serious business. It uses Edward Maya’s “Stereo Love” and some Waka Flocka Flame to create a great little dance tune. The White Panda has yet to disappoint me and I don’t see them slowing down any time soon. They have a great taste in music which results in awesome mashups. Conrgats on another winner, you big white and black bear-people, you!

“Stop Pretending” – The Friendly Giant

“Stop Pretending” (Click to DL)

AMAZING mashup! Wowza. This mashup artist, The Friendly Giant, emailed me this track. I get a lot of mashup submissions, some good, some not so good. This one really surprised me, cause it is pretty fawesome. It’s almost strange how well the four songs fit together so coherently.  The Friendly Giant uses Chiddy Bang’s “Opposite of Adults”, B.o.B & Hayley Williams’ “Airplanes”, Oasis’ “Wonderwall”, and “Fireflies” by Owl City. You may not believe that these four songs mesh so well, but you really must listen. Must. You must.
