“Get Down” – Tayyib Ali

“Never Change”

Yea yea I’m late get over it, finals are a b*tch. You’ve prob heard this already and I hope you’ve already downloaded it, but if not this is a must download. It broke records on DatPiff.com in its first 24 hours available for download – rightfully so. This mixtape kicks major a$$. It would be a crime and an injustice to not post. Every song is gold. Awesome samples, smooth, summer flow, nice beats, the list goes on.. Tayyib Ali is THE next movement in hip-hop. And he’s so young! Power to the next generation. Boom.

P.S. The instrumental to “Never Change” is hands down the best on the album. Incredible.

Think About It [Produced By Dis Kid Jerm]” (Right click + “Save link as” to DL)

Newbie rapper Pat SoLo Jamieson just released his debut mixtape, Electric Playground. I wonder if his name is a reference to SoLo cups? Hmm. College.

Well, I’d be lying if I said I loved the mixtape, but I hate giving negative reviews, so I won’t post it if I don’t have anything nice to say about it (thanks Mom for the morals). Most of the mixtape is themed around being 19 and getting your penis touched or being drunk. Now I’m 19 and definitely understand the college lifestyle, but honestly there are other things to do here. Anyway, I posted what I thought was the hands down best, most creative song from the mixtape, “Think About It”. It samples The White Stripes’ “Doorbell”. Such a unique sampling! Love it.

If you want to check out the rest of the mixtape and judge for yourself, he freestyles over Lupe’s “Show Goes On”, which is nice. I also like “The News”. It’s smooth, it’s chill, I really like it. I’ve already posted “Mystery Girl” previously, which is super catchy. You can download the mixtape HERE: Electric Playground Mixtape.

MIXTAPE: Xaphoon Jones Mixtape Volume 2

Blow Up (Xaphoon Jones ColeStep Remix)” (Right click + “Save link as” to DL)

Here We Go (AC Slater Remix)” (Right click + “Save link as” to DL)

Arrsome! I am smitten with sounds of Chiddy Bang producer, Xaphoon Jones. Here is his second mixtape and it’s definitely what you would expect out of Xaphoon. Some songs bother me because they’re really good but so short. For example, “But Beyonce Had One Of The Best Videos Of All Time!” is one of the best songs on there (in my opinion), but it’s only :51 seconds long! Gah. Bother. My two favorites on the mixtape are “Blow Up”, a J.Cole remix which just slaughters the original, and “Here We Go (AC Slater Remix)”, which is a remix of Chiddy Bang’s song. Sooo sick. “Dancing With the DJ” is cool too. Love it.

MIXTAPE: “The Drive In” – The Dean’s List

“Dear Professor”

“Light Up The Sky (Feat. Dani Ummel)”

Please welcome with open arms The Dean’s List brand new mixtape, The Drive In. It’s sooo Dean’s List. I’m not sure how to describe it besides by saying that; if you know The Dean’s List’s style, then you know what I’m talking about. If you don’t, let me try to explain.. It’s a mix of chill, college culture hip-hop mixed with occasional uptempo songs and sick tracks. Does that work? I think so.

My favorite on the mixtape is “Dear Professor”, which has a super catchy sampling, a fun beat, and an awesome flow. My second favorite is “Light Up The Sky (Feat. Dani Ummel)” because I love Dani Ummel’s vocals on the chorus and the instrumental is crazy. Honorable mention goes to “All Systems Go (Feat. OnCue)”. I would’ve uploaded that one too but my computer is being super slow. Make sure you download the full mixtape on DatPiff.com, courtesy of BroBible & KarmaLoop:

Yayz. Milkman released a new album today…it’s free! And GOOD. I saw him live a couple weeks ago and he was awesome. He played a couple of these songs and a bunch of other killer ones. A couple of the tracks on here are really incredible, like “Another One”, “Drop The Ball”, and “Right Now”. Honorable mention to “Look Now”. For some reason, Ramapo’s STUPID$%^&$ internet is extremely slow right now and won’t let me upload songs to the server. So, you’re gonna have to trust me on this one and just download the whole album. It’s worth it though. You trust me, right? Right guys? ….

Download here for some sick mashes of Britney, Gaga, the Biebs, Maroon 5, Black Eyed Peas, “My Dick”, and all your other favorite songs: http://www.milkmanmusic.net/

MIXTAPE: “Kiss Kiss Kiss” – Kid Sister

“Daydreaming (Douster Remix)” – Kid Sister

“Don’t Stop Movin'” – Kid Sister

“Right Hand Hi (Caspa Remix)” – Kid Sister

“Kiss Kiss Kiss” – Kid Sister

“Work Them” – Kid Sister

You may tell me this is a little excessive. 5 songs? All on the same mixtape? All making it onto Jillboard Top 100 6.0? Yes, this is happening. I’m a huge Kid Sister fan, and hot damn this mixtape rules. Two of the songs above are remixes from Kid Sis’s last album, Ultraviolet, which have also been previously Jillboarded. The remixes are incredible though! To not post would be a felony, and I ain’t no criminal. “Don’t Stop Movin'” is classic Kid Sister – that simple line that you can’t stop repeating or bobbing your head to (“work it out, don’t stop movin'”).  “Kiss Kiss Kiss”, the title track, has such a great flow and rhythm to it, it’s impossible not to move to it. Also super melodic. “Work Them”, the last but not least favorite, is a great sampling with a great beat – again, typical Kid Sister to throw something this awesome in your face. “Work me god dammit!”

Other tracks on the mixtape feature artists such as Nina Sky, Paul Wall, and Gucci Mane. She’s a-climbin’!

Kid Sister is so cool, don’t you just want to hang out with her? Is that just me?

MIXTAPE: “Vicki Leekz” – M.I.A.

“VICKI LEEKZ” (Click to DL)

M.I.A. dropped a new mixtape on New Year’s Eve – it’s called “VICKI LEEKZ”. Get it…like, Wikileaks…

I haven’t listened all the way through yet, but so far it’s not as epic as I was expecting. It feels a bit lazy. First of all, it’s not separated into different tracks, which sparks my OCD. Ugh, bother.  On another note, she samples her track “Steppin’ Up” off MAYA around the 9:00 mark. Love that song. Also, the 12:00 mark is really good. I’m listening to it as I’m posting this which is why I sound so flippity floppy. Anyway I thought I’d just throw it up and you can judge for yourself.

Mixtape: “No Genre” – B.o.B

B.o.B dropped a new mixtape – yay! Unfortunately, it’s not as epic as his first album. To describe it in one word, I would say “consistent”.  Each song is about a 3.5 stars consistently, in my opinion.  The lyricism is great as is the rhythm, which is obvious, because it’s B.o.B. However, I’m not thrilled by the production and overall feel of the mixtape. These days, artists treat their mixtapes like albums, so the standards have been raised as to the quality of mixtapes.  I don’t thin this mixtape is a good showcase of B.o.B’s overrall potential, like his debut album was.

No Genre features T.I., Young Dro, and J.R. Rotem (Producer), to name a few. There’s some deep songs, such as “Cold As Ice”, which is a good/sad story that you can’t help but get pulled into the lyrics with the outpoor of emotion from B.o.B. There’s a couple duds, and a couple that were pretty good. My favorites are “American Dreamin'”, “Attraction”, “Grand Hustle Kings”, and “Beast Mode”. The first three I mentioned are catchy, and “Beast Mode” is just, well, absolute beast rapping. I would post my top 3 favorites but they are .m4a’s and WordPress hates me doesn’t take .m4a’s, so check it out for yourself and see what you think: Download B.o.B’s new mixtape, No Genre, here.
