Modern Art” (Right click + “Save link as” to DL)

Here’s the first single from the alternative bros known as Black Lips. It’s a different feel for Jillboard, but that’s why I like it – it’s different and cool. Almost reminds me of The Fratellis, if you remember them. Really nice alternative rock song. Check ittt.

Introducing: Super Rocket Car! Super Rocket Car is an awesome New Jersey band, the singer being a friend of a friend of mine. They’re very talented musically and lyrically. This is the kind of music that anyone can listen to and thoroughly enjoy. It’s poppy and rocky, but just the right amount of each, making a perfect, uplifting combo. It’s almost a pop-punk revival meets Jason Mraz/John Mayer. I’m not really sure if that makes sense. Do you like Blues Traveler? Cause I also get that vibe from these guys. You should probably just listen and enjoy…

“Cheaper Than Free” – Stevie Nicks Feat. Dave Stewart

Wow, this is such a beautiful song. The lyrics, the music, the collaboration.. ahh. Stevie Nicks just released her new music video for “Cheaper Than Free”, a single off her upcoming album – the first in 10 years! It’s a duet with Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics, and they sound great together. This isn’t necessarily in the Jillboard realm, but I figured I should post it since it’s mildly epic. Stevie Nicks is so cool. If I could be half as cool as her…I don’t know. It’d be cool.

THROWBACKULOSIS: “Walk Like An Egyptian (Bassnectar Remix)” – The Bangles

Walk Like An Egyptian (Bassnectar Remix)” (Right click + “Save link as” to DL)

So this is my guinea pig for throwback posts – I’m going to start taking some of my favorite throwback songs and posting epic remixes of them. This idea all started 4 minutes ago. Just trying to keep it current.. This past week I’ve been heavily infected with 80’s Fever, which is clinically referred to as Throwbackulosis. I spent 3 hours of my Friday night making a MASSIVE 80s playlist (I’m cool, I know…) and changed my ringtone to “Walk Like An Egyptian”. So I’m sitting in class right now, and just for shets & gegs, I decided to YouTube “Walk Like An Egyptian remix”. Not only was I shocked that there was more than one result, but I was beyond pleasantly surprised to see the first result was a dubstep remix by BASSNECTAR! What!? And it’s recent (2011) too! Could that have worked out anymore perfectly?! I’m sitting here drooling with one headphone in, grinning like an ass. People are staring.. Anyway, tell me what you think – should Throwbackulosis be a recurring theme? Can’t hurt, right?

Someone sample Spice Girls and I’ll marry you.

Introducing: Ryan Shubert

Introducing: Ryan Shubert! If you’re looking for some collegey-Slightly-Stoopidish music with a twist of pop music, you’ve met your match. Ryan sent me his debut EP in one of the nicest email submissions I’ve received to date. He sounds like a genuinely nice, passionate guy. The kind of guy you want to take home to your mother.

Is anyone else preparing their summer playlists early? I am. Call it Spring Fever, call it being delusional, whatever – SUMMER’S COMING! Ryan Shubert’s beachy, light, smooth songs are a perfect addition to Summer ’11 playlists. Ryan is a fellow Temple University native with Michael Cameron. If you like Slightly Stoopid’s style (the music, not the weed), or John Mayer, you’ll love this guy. In his words, “The subject matter of my music is all true to my life experiences while living at college”. Check out Ryan’s Facebook page by clicking here. Make sure you pick up his 3-song EP, Halfway Past Tomorrow

Stream Halfway Past Tomorrow here.

Buy Halfway Past Tomorrow on iTunes HERE.

“As a daily reader and enthusiast of your blog, I would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to consider featuring my music.” – Ryan Shubert.

Aw stawwwp Ryan…

P.S. Happy FRIDAY! Try not to dance around your room to Rebecca Black too much!

Knockin” (Right click + “Save link as” to DL)

Wait, is this real? Are these people really all on a track together? At the same time? I am confused and overwhelmed by this goodness. 3 of my favorite artists from different genres/styles all together, and then some. In the same place. This. Is. Awesome. It’s like a dream. A drum-filled, pop/rock, bass-so-loud-it-induces-vomit dream. I can’t stand it! WOW. It’s slowly starting to make sense the louder I listen to it. GET LOUD. YESSSS!!!

Introducing: Shinobi Ninja

Blaow!” (Right click + “Save link as” to DL)

Nah Nah” (Right click + “Save link as” to DL)

Meet Jillboard’s new obsession: SHINOBI NINJA! I almost don’t want to post about them because they’re one of those little hipster secrets I want to keep all to myself. However, it would be a felony to not post. Seriously, the cops were at my door. Take a listen to your new Beastie Boys-revival meets new technology power-group. They are a self-described “Mashup of Hip Hop, Punk, Reggae, Rock, and Metal, into an original urban sound” meshed with “the hardbody party lifestyle”. I like to think of them as a super innovative, culture-blending, power-punk-meets-DJ-culture hipster magnet. Can you dig it?

I feel like I’ve been waiting a lifetime to hear something like this – I’m actually ashamed for not knowing of them sooner. I’m one of the biggest endorsers of pop music, and I love pop down to its last sweet lovey-dovey note, but sometimes I need a break because my brain starts turning to mush. Sometimes I need to embrace my inner-rebel and listen to something that makes me want to break shet – not really, but seriously, let’s get loud.

I think the song title “Blaow!” says it all. Just yell it. It sounds awesome. Oh and the guitar solo in “Nah Nah”? Are you kidding? I love them! Up until now, they’ve only had dangling songs and killer EPs, but they’re just days away from the release of their debut album, Rock Hood, which is kicking off with a release party/performance in NYC (click here for the juicy deets). Who’s going?! Me me me! Apparently they have an energy-blasted live show. For now, download their EP, “The Baby G EP” fo’ free by visiting their website: http://www.shinobininja.com/ . 3/4 of their EP is on Jillboard Top 100 Playlist 6.0 (“Blaow!, “Nah Nah”, “Superstar (DA Remix)”), so download that immediately. That’s an order.

More rants on Shinobi Ninja to come. Click here to watch their music video for “Brooklyn to Babylon”, another AWESOME song. And “like” them hurr: SHINOBI NINJA Facebook.
