Download The Rematch – The White Panda

So I’ve always been a huge mashup fan since I first heard of them, but…

DEAR GOD I’m literally DYING listening to this! BEST MASHUP EVER. Oh my god. Oh my god. Hyperventilating. SJKDFNGLJSDNFGLK. This is by The White Panda, who I’ve heard in the past but was never really interested until this newly released mixtape. You will not believe who they sampled in this!

First off, anyone who uses any “Party In The USA” reference at ALL instantly has my undying gratitude and love.

These guys sampled tons of my all time favorite songs (old and brand new) in ONE MIXTAPE. I can’t believe this is happening. They sampled “Praise You” by Fatboy Slim, Miley Cyrus “Party In The USA”, “Island In The Sun” by Weezer, “Tipsy” by J-Kwon (don’t ask, me and my best friend were obsessed with this song in like 7th grade), “Butterfly” by Crazy Town, and this is only in 2 songs. I haven’t even listened to the whole mixtape yet but I was just so excited that I had to post it immediately – this shet needs to be SHARED with the world! I’m listening to it right now and just shaking, it’s creepy.

More f*@#ing awesome songs that The White Panda sampled: “Genius of Love” (!!!!) Tom Tom Club, “Alejandro” (lolejandro) – Gaga, “Break Your Heart” – Taio Cruz (this song’s not that awesome but it’s mashed together so well). I have to keep listening and stop typing before I collapse. To The White Panda – GOOD JOB. I really can’t decide if I like them better than Super Mash Bros, but I’m pretty sure I do. Ahhhhh! This whole mixtape has caused me to yell in a Taurette-like manner.

P.S. Prepare to get Rickrolled.

We are about to start a revolution driven by the unstoppable force of blogs, social networks, and college students – all who can come together with the click of a mouse and blast an independent artist ahead of the robotic ties of the major labels. Embrace the click and join the movement.

^ “Cold” Music Video

^ New single “Government Name”

Welcome to the Jillboard 1,000th view spectacular! Wow, kidding… But in all/most seriousness, in celebration of my 1,000th view in just 15 days since the birth of Jillboard Top 100, I am posting about something very important in my life right now – my internship! Since January, I have been working with an amazingly talented pop/dance singer/dancer/performer. Her new single “Government Name” has recently impacted radio stations nationwide, including NYC’s Hot 97, DC’s Hot 99.5, and Hartford’s Hot 93.7 (so much Hotness to go around).

With over 4.6 million plays on Myspace, and having been named Walmart Soundcheck Risers “The Next Big Thing”,  right after Lady GaGa, this artist is the first and only independent artist to receive distribution through Walmart. Her name is Alex Young, and she is “talent waiting to blow”, in the words of TheNext2Shine.com. Having received amazing comments from promoters in NYC & Seattle saying Alex’s 2010 club show was the best they have seen at their club, Alex Young is a star in the making. No, I am not just saying that because I work with her, I loved her music and believed in this before I began my internship. Her debut album, “Amazing”, was distributed through Walmart and iTunes and featured big writers and producers, including Frankie Storm (Rihanna), Taj Jackson (Lionel Richie/Janet Jackson), Michelle Bell (Britney Spears), Big Draws (Beyoncé), Amadeus (Badboy Records), D’antoni (Linkin Park, Marilyn Manson, Coldplay), and Mysto & Pizzi (Geico Insurance “Somebody’s Watching Me”/R. Kelly/ Justin Timberlake).

So for the past few months, I have been promoting/marketing this artist, gaining an amazing amount of exposure to the industry, and having a great time.  As a young grasshopper of the industry (literally young, I’m only 18…), I’m loving every minute of this experience and can’t wait for what the future holds – and what the future holds is Alex’s music blowing up. Don’t believe me? Be a part of what’s about to be a massive force/online revolution behind this genre-bending talent, and “Join The Army”. Follow @AlexYoungsArmy on Twitter, and “Like” Alex Young on Facebook – be one of the minions that will be called upon to participate in some amazing events (LOTS more info to come on this, nothing that I can say yet…excited? I am. Not sure why I’m still in parentheses).  For more information on Alex, visit her newly launched website www.alexyoungmusic.com. Make sure to join the Twitter and Facebook armies and alert EVERYONE YOU KNOW to do the same. Alex’s music is available on iTunes & Walmart.com.

What am I doing? Since it is an independent label, I am very involved in everything. I’m currently working on a video series called “AY Splashes”, that will be posted on Alex’s YouTube page. We are in the process of a radio blast – call your local radio and request “Government Name” by Alex Young, every request helps. I’m also involved in website upkeep, sanity upkeep, and thinking of crazy promotional ideas. So…

My job: Keep blogging and promoting Alex, sometimes combining the two (like now).

YOUR job: Spread the word to EVERYONE you know and join the revolution. Listen to her music and you’ll be an instant believer. Invite all your friends on Facebook to “Like” her page!

Hope you all enjoyed this long update/introduction to my current life. More music from Alex and other upcoming artists to come. Thank you SO much for reading my blog and make sure you keep reading! I promise you won’t be disappointed (what’s not to like – artist interviews, upcoming talent, and an inside view on the industry!?)

I LOVE THESE GUYS. This New York duo’s music is sooo awesome. Above is their first music video, “CAKE” – so good. I hope you will be hearing more about them because, well, I love them. They remind me of LMFAO but not as drunk. Their lyrics are funny, their beats are awesome, their harmonies/vocals are on, and their overall musical style is so good. The band consists of Slim Willy, the producer (also an artist), and Lee Wilkie. Their song “CAKE (Dance Remix)” is epic, but I can’t find it on YouTube (and I’m too cheap to get the WordPress space upgrade so I can embed audio…), so check it out on their Myspace (seriously do this it’s so worth it, it’s one of my absolute FAVORITES right now): Ferrari Snowday Myspace

Here is my second fave song by them, “She Wants To Kill Me” – listen to the lyrics. Awesome!

“So cool got my glasses on…

…Party hard til the cake is gone”

“Pimps And Hoes” – Rock Mafia

This is a sick club song by Rock Mafia that samples DJ Tiesto and Diplo’s song “C’mon”. It has a hint of Indian music influence, which I love. You may have heard of Rock Mafia from Miley Cyrus’s new single “Can’t Be Tamed”. They are a team of producers that produced multiple tracks on Miley’s upcoming album Can’t Be Tamed, and this song is a part of their upcoming mixtape. This track features that similar heavy synth beat that’s in “Can’t Be Tamed”, it seems to be Rock Mafia’s trademark. Apparently, Miley will be featured in the final cut of this song. Miley or not, this song is great and I think you’ll agree if you like dance music at all. Can’t wait to hear the rest of Rock Mafia’s mixtape.

“From the beach of California to the sands of Jersey Shore, all my girls say ahhhhh”

“Gettin’ Over You” – David Guetta & Chris Willis Feat. Fergie & LMFAO

This is one of my fave’s right now, it’s so much fun. I love the beat and instrumental sooo much. The video is very fun too. I want to be in one of those really unrealistic party videos where everyone looks like they’re having the best time ever (like this video) SO BADLY. This video is extremely unrealistic from the beginning where David Guetta says “We’re gonna do this in one take” to when the Jabbawockeez (spelling?) come out of nowhere. It all contributes to how awesome this song is. Plus, LMFAO and Fergie are some of my favorite artists. I’ve always thought Fergie-Ferg has had some amazing pipes. Coincidentally, I actually have met LMFAO and Fergie before. Not sure how you can sneak backstage and grab an artist’s fro and NOT get kicked out but…note the fro grabbage:

For the record, LMFAO is really good in concert, and they’re just as out of their minds as you would expect them to be. I don’t really have anything to say about Chris Willis.

“Impossible” – Shontelle

Pop lovers rejoice! I didn’t like her song “T-Shirt” and quite frankly had no idea who Shontelle was until I heard this song, but WOW. This is my FAVORITE song right now. I realize that I say that about most songs I like, but seriously, I love this song. Plus, it sounds like she can really sing. Perfection, en mi opinion (that’s spanish for in my opinion). This video is kind of hard to follow, but she looks and sounds good so who cares!

Nicki Minaj!

I friggin LOVE Nicki Minaj. I love her attitude, I always find it refreshing to see independent women who are large and in charge. And although Nicki Minaj isn’t technically “large” – the bitch has BUTT IMPLANTS. She’s awesome.  I wonder how long it takes after surgery for you to be able to sit? Enough about the bimplants… Nicki Minaj is a very talented rapper with a badass/crazy bitch personality which makes her unique and that much cooler. She’s a powerhouse who does what she wants. Anyway, I highly respect her for being  confident, crazy, and careless (but she knows what she’s doing). AND, she graduated from LaGuardia High School in NYC for singing and acting, so don’t argue about whether or not she’s talented – she 100% is. Here are my two fave songs by her right now, but I will DEFINITELY be posting more soon.

“Massive Attack” – this video is AWESOME, love the colors/visuals.

“Your Love” – She sampled Annie Lennox? GOD I LOVE HER
